Crystal Ridge Golf Club

About
Located on the northeast side of Okotoks, Crystal Ridge is perched high above the Sheep River Valley, offering panoramic views that span the Canadian Rockies. Although the vistas stretch for seemingly endless miles, the golf course conveniently sits just a few minutes from south Calgary. The nine-hole layout weaves through stands of towering poplars and around sparkling lakes. A stream that meanders across the golf course makes the setting even more idyllic. Naturally, water comes into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The back-to-back par 4s beginning with the fourth are two of the golf course's most notable holes. The fourth is a sharp dogleg right with water all along the left side and the fifth has water lining both sides. On nearly every hole at Crystal Ridge you'll find anywhere from five to nine tee boxes, allowing golfers of all skill levels to play to their abilities.

Course in horrible shape
Called to complain about condition of fairways and manager said has water problems and too bad! Spent $100 to golf on fairways as hard and uneven and ungroomed as a farmers field.
Won’t go back and obviously don’t care about customer service.
Couldn’t be more disappointed and manager needs a lesson in courtesy.
Very Poorly Kept Course
Patchy fairways...any public course in Calgary is better than this one. Not friendly for new golfers. Narrow course with houses all around. I would be very surprised if this course is open in the next years. Decadent and in rough shape.. To be fair, greens are okay ish...
Good condition -
For several years now we have made use of the twilight and "kids play free" on a Sunday offers to take the kids out. On the whole this has been good although the course strictly enforces its dress code - so much so that I got asked if I'd read the dress code when I called to book. As Crystal Ridge promotes itself as a "Family Golf Centre" I would like to see some quarter given at these times to encourage families and kids to play
The course itself is in good condition - the greens are a bit long for me but still in great condition. By the end of the day they are full of pitch marks - unfortunately the clientele are not so hot at repairing them. This is really an elongated par 3 course - but what it lacks in length it makes up for in challenging layout.
I've never found the service at the clubhouse to be great. The downstairs bar almost feels like an add on - not much atmosphere. The drinks cart seems to be no longer in operation unless there is a function.
Now for the bad stuff - on the 3 occasions we have played this year we have been hassled by staff to play quicker - from sitting behind us collecting the flags as we finished each hole, to more blatantly being shouted at by a senior member of staff playing behind us to increase the pace - we were the fifth in line and were being held up ourselves at every hole - but it was up to us to hurry up. As a result both my kids and myself did not enjoy the round and skipped several holes - every time they felt they were taking too many shots.
My big issue with Crystal Ridge is the attitude of management in the clubhouse which percolates down to staff. It feels like customers come bottom of the list!. From the over the top and somewhat spuriously implemented adherence of dress code, to the hit and miss service in the bar, to being shouted at for being the next family in front of staff. We stopped eating at the restaurant many years ago because there was a constant stream of course staff entering and leaving the kitchens and the food was good, but invariably there was always one or more dishes wrong or late.
As of now we will be playing elsewhere on a Sunday - my kids have decided that they don't want the pressure of being chased around Crystal Ridge.
GREAT MOUNTAIN VIEWS
The course is in very good condition considering the recent winter weather in Okotoks. Some traps had standing water which should be gone in the next few days. Lots of water & traps. This is a target type golf course. Clubhouse & resturant staff were very pleasant. Overall a good experience.
Great family golf course
Crystal Ridge is a great family golf facility. The course is well groomed and the greens are in great condition. The layout is fairly short but one needs to be accurate as there is a good amount of water and rough. This course is perfect for new to average golfers and great for families. The value here is worth the trip for a good round of golf.
fun course for all skill levels
The price for this course was remarkable. Definitely get more out of the course than what you pay for. Nice variety of holes no 2 holes are alike.
Alberta Gem
Love this course - friendly, helpful staff, course was in great condition & weather was perfect.
So glad they've finally joined GolfNow. We'll be golfing there more often
Friendly Staff
I enjoyed the pace of play and the very friendly staff. Very nice little community to play a round of golf in and will not be my last trip to "Crystal Ridge". The only fault of the course would be the greens, they could be cared for a bit more. However the staff truly makes up for any fault in the green
Disappointing experience
I now work in Okotoks and I looked forward to today because we were looking for a golf course close by that we can play nine on weekdays after work. We tee off early, everything started okay although the greens were not cut and putting score sucks, but then on the forth hole all the way to ninth, there were workers everywhere. They don't watch you, they don't care where you are, they don't stop when you hit and they are not wearing helmets at all. The workers on the greens stands around on the green while you're taking your shot to the green. The Marshall told us to talk to the manager instead of just walking away and not ever come back, but then the manager just insisted that our problem had nothing to do with him.
Crystal golf
course is ok its a golf community course its ok play here staff is great
Fun nine-holer!
An excellent value as booked through Golf Now. Not an overly long course, but still plenty of challenge and variety for all levels of golfer. Fairways a bit sparse in places the day I played, but greens were in very good shape - quite slow though.
Community golf course
Friendly local course. Average muni track. pace of play is usually very slow.
Still a lot of surface water
$55 is definitely too much to be charging at this stage if the season, 1st hole shortened to par 3. A lot of puddles of water in the bunkers and in and around the fairways. It's a very long 9 holes, cart needed long trips between holes, even crossing the road twice just to get to the 8th I think!
Will be far better later in the season but don't think I'll take a trip back. Staff were very nice.
Your First Or Second Time ?
The first time this course will put you to your knees for mercy. You had better be straight or water and trees will eat you. Just as you think you can score well a new challenge awaits you on the next hole. The views are unbelievable with lots of trees and lakes but wait until you see the westerly views of the mountains. Check out the sunset here and eat overlooking a huge pond with owls and ducks present for entertainment. A earnest test of your skills and only 9 holes that can be played twice.
Cool little nine hole
For late sept it was a nice little spot, greens were in good shape
