Water Valley Golf and Country Club

This course is great for a quick round. 1 of the clubs staff needs a course in friendliness though. If you don’t like your job maybe look for a new one… this refers to the older grey haired guy at the front check in desk.

It was my first time golfing here, and certainly won't be my last. Current conditions are excellent, with fast greens. There's a bit of everything from doglegs in either direction to elevation changes in both direction, to some dead straight, albeit narrow, holes. Fall is upon us and there are some ares prone to fallen leaves, but that just seemed to add to the ambience. Highly recommend!

Another course just off "The Cowboy Trail" is Water Valley GC...what a marvelous place to play a round of golf. There isn't anything this course lacks if you're looking to play, practice or just enjoy a scenic day out. It's home to exceptional practice facilities, a great clubhouse and a well stocked pro shop.

Staff in the pro shop returned a friendly greeting, the girl behind the restaurant bar cheerfully topped up my travel mug with ice and the starter cordially provided some entertaining banter while waiting to tee it up. The course had me join up with Jeff and Randy, a couple of golfers that play here regularly but travel from Calgary to do so.

The layout makes good use of the rolling landscape, the fairways are generous and flow seamlessly through the forest that the course is carved from. The greens are large and undulating, very receptive and rolled fast and true. There are some water hazards but are there more for aesthetics than to cause you any trouble. The groomed bunkers are in all the right places and will get your attention.

Memorable holes include Hole 4, an engaging and scenic 565 yard Par 5 followed by Hole 5, a risk, reward, 345 yard, sharp dog leg right, par 4. Hole 15 provides another risk, reward scenario off the tee box to a disappearing fairway that gently turns right and drops downhill to a smallish green. Hole 16, a cheerful 175 yard par 3, would be considered their signature hole. With a forest of trees for a backdrop, it features a nicely contoured green fronted by a mirror pond and surrounded by a trio of unruly bunkers.

Water Valley is brilliant and delightfully entertaining, the challenges are innumerable and will require golfers to examine every part of their game.

My son in law and myself came out to play this amazing course and couldn’t have been more delighted. Fairways were like carpet, staff were friendly and got us out on time even though we were running late. Can hardly wait to be to come back for another game.

We enjoyed the course but found we were waiting on most holes. We really enjoyed the course. It was in great shape and had a great time! I would highly recommend golfing here.

While the course and weather were beautiful the day we went I was not impressed at the price of the cart. I did not realize the hot deal I booked on didn't include the cart. When we checked in the price of the cart was $25.50 each seat!! That to me is absolutely ridiculous for a old crappy golf cart. Maybe if it was new with GPS but it was not! Not sure if we will return even though the course itself is beautiful. If I had to recommend it would come with a warning on the cart price!
